Video Home Training (VHT):
Video Home Training (VHT) is an innovative method we use to work directly with the student and its family.
Parents and facilitators use VHT to understand the behaviour of the child better and learn through detailed analysis and advice to act differently and more appropriately. VHT teaches you to notice contact signals of your child and gives insight to what your child wants, feels, thinks and needs (from you).
We use audio and video at home and at the Hub to inform all involved of the behavior at hand and how, when and where intervention is needed and can be carried out.
We use VHT to:
-
Feel more confident in handling the learner
-
Better the relationship with the learner.
-
Give support in raising your child
-
Deal with ‘defiant’ or unexpected behaviour
Watching or hearing yourself and/ or the facilitator and your child is often very enlightening. You see your child with different eyes and you will often see instantly what your child needs. Everyone involved discuss the possibilities of handling the child in a more positive and effective manner.
VHT is used in what we call 24/7 care. A GiGi facilitator is available at all times to guide the learner and its family through challenging moments. If needed a facilitator can come to the home or joins sessions at therapists or specialists. A ‘care-team’ consisting of everyone involved is there to provide the best possible help and guidance at the Hub and in the Home.
