24/7 Care:
Our 24/7 care means continuous, around-the-clock support, through whatsapp messaging, calls, VHT and possible home-visits for learners and their families needing assistance due to complex needs in any given moment.
Many (mental and/ or health) carers in Zambia are not always available at those moments where you need instant support and guidance. At GiGi we provide this support because we know that this support is so needed and can really affect the child’s learning and behaviour positively, sometimes instantly, sometimes resulting in improved development of the learner and relationships between all involved over time.
We have acknowledged parents’ and learners’ needs throughout the years and have experienced that often results can be achieved so much quicker and effectively when incidents are attended to instantly.
Our Whatsapp is therefore available 24/7 for all learners and their families for necessary calls or chats.
24/7 care provides a foundation of medical safety, emotional stability, and developmental progress that standard care cannot match. Children and families with complex needs often face unpredictable (health) crises that require immediate intervention.
Children with challenges thrive on consistency, which 24/7 care reinforces. Constant support maintains the strict daily routines necessary for a child's sense of security and predictability. Caregivers can integrate therapy exercises (speech, physical, or occupational) into daily life at the Hub and at Home, turning everyday activities into learning opportunities that promote long-term developmental milestones. Round-the-clock companionship reduces isolation and fosters trust, which is essential for healthy brain development and emotional resilience.
A facilitator supporting the family, may be critical to preventing ‘household collapse’. Continuous professional care provides parents with essential respite, allowing them to rest and attend to other responsibilities, which maintains the overall health of the family unit. Ongoing professional support equips families with the skills and confidence needed to manage their child's unique condition effectively.
24/7 support often increases a child's autonomy; knowing help is always available, gives children, siblings and parents the confidence to attempt new tasks and engage more freely with their environment. This care can help for children, parents and siblings to gain greater control over their daily life.
